## Chapter 3 Vienna is waiting for you (pp.13-20)
- Two values
- Spanish: "There is only a certain amount of value on the earth, so the way to get rich is how to squeeze wealth from the earth and the people."
- British style: "Value is created with inventive talent and technology"
- The Spanish way is to let people who don't get paid overtime work for free to increase productivity (originally, it will decrease as much time is spent)
- Life is short (also Billy Joel sings on "VIENNA")
- It's still good for people who can rejuvenate themselves with "non-work" time to make up for overtime
- If you can't do that, you'll fall into a workaholic, lose something important, and quit silently
- How should managers treat workaholics?
- Spanish management loses subordinates who become workaholics
- A question that evolves into the theme of ``productivity in the true sense of the word''
- Productivity and retirement (turnover)
- Typical ways to increase productivity come at the risk of increasing retirement rates
- If you don't recognize it, you will suffer the loss of a key man
- Productivity should be defined as profit divided by cost, which "should include the extra cost spent on recruiting retirees".
```
If you are rushed to do it quickly, you will only do sloppy work, not high-quality work.
```
> To get the job done faster, you have to sacrifice product quality and job satisfaction.
